Global Warming/Climate Change

Senate to Consider Energy/Climate Change Legislation

The oil spill in the Gulf makes clear the hidden costs associated with fossil fuels and the urgency of transitioning to a clean energy economy.  Unfortunately, the hidden costs connected to climate change will be much, much greater than the worst oil spill.  We must put a price on carbon that reflects the true costs of fossil fuel pollution.  This is the best way to protect our planet from the massive dangers of global warming and create the green jobs that our country needs.

This summer is a critical time for climate legislation.  Senate leaders are deciding now what kind of energy bill to bring to the Senate floor.  Below are two ways you can help us get a bill that begins to address global warming .

1)  Email   President Obama  and our  Senators Cardin and Mikulski to urge them to tell Senate leaders that it is very important to pass strong, comprehensive clean energy and climate legislation this year that puts a price on the carbon pollution that causes global warming. Also, please thank them for their leadership on this issue .

2)  Send emails to at least two like-minded friends or family members, especially if you know someone in one of the states below, asking them to help.  Our Maryland Senators support comprehensive energy and climate legislation, but the senators listed below are considered swing votes on this issue.
