Governor Acts on Bills Passed Last Week - Veto Overrides Expected Today!
As predicted, Governor Hogan vetoed several bills on Friday, including the following:
SB 53 – Juvenile Law – Child Interrogation Protection Act
HB 937 – Abortion Care Access Act
SB 514/HB 778 – Transportation – Investment Program – MARC Rail Service
SB 275 – Labor and Employment – Family and Medical Leave Insurance Program – Establishment
HB 1021 – Public Safety – Licensed Firearms Dealers – Security Requirements
Surprisingly, Hogan allowed SB 528 – Climate Solutions Now Act of 2022, to become law without his signature. There were others that he also allowed to become law, and this included:
HB 1080 - Maryland Medical Assistance Program - Children and Pregnant Women (Healthy Babies Equity Act)
HB 459/SB691 - Juvenile Justice Reform
HB 837 - Cannabis Reform
SB 387/HB 425 - Untraceable Firearms
SB 228 - Maryland Corps Program - Revisions
The General Assembly must act to override any of these vetoes before the end of session on Monday, April 11 at midnight. They are expected to take them up on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
